Utah Wedding at Timpanogos Temple
Take it or leave it, I’ve decided to take up residence on a soap box that few wedding photographers have stood on. I actually really enjoy shooting in cultural halls. Not that I want all my clients to have weddings in one, but I really don’t mind it. What I mean to say is every wedding is personal and should be captured with beautiful photographs. And here’s another thing that may be slightly controversial to my peers is the break up of how I think money should be spent on a wedding. In other words how money will be spent on my own daughters weddings.
1.food–A bride and groom may think that a wedding is for them. And I think they would be wrong. Sorry, girls I love you, but you are dead wrong. A wedding is a celebration of two families coming together and celebrating with friends. Food is a great way to spend time with friends and thank them for sharing moments in your life. I think sometimes cultural hall weddings get a bad reputation because the food is so poor. As pretty as flowers are you can’t eat them. Guests will be much more impressed by a yummy spread than a gorgeous venue or amazing flowers. (now I just making enemies–but ask any guest, I think they would agree) This wedding had amazing food! A dinner buffet the whole time-it was to die for! (I don’t always sample the food, but since I was their from 2-8pm without a break the bride wanted me to-I promise!) Lots of food just the way I would do it myself!
2.photography–You better bet my number two would be photography. A good photographer can do a lot for making your wedding shine. When choosing a photographer be sure to check their portfolio for different lighting situations. It’s easy to take beautiful photos in great light…but how would they do-say in a cultural hall? I would check and make sure that not all reception photos are taking in black and white. It’s a simple trick to make rookie photos look better when taken in yellow or mixed lighting. Also check for attention to details and ability to tell a story.
3. I don’t really care what goes here. I guess once you’ve covered food and photography I’m a pretty happy girl.
I had a great time with this wedding. It really had a feeling of family coming together to give the couple the dream wedding they wanted. And I loved being there to capture it! The Timpanogos Temple was beautiful with spring blossoms and the weather couldn’t have been nicer. Oh and I never really considered having a wedding band but the one posted below was the best. Seriously, they should be number three in my list because they really where that great! Such a beautiful event I was so happy to be a part of!
Here’s the vendor list.
